Creative sparks might appear unexpectedly, by accident rather than choice. Some coincidences however are to perfect to be random, and St. Solaire is a prime example of that. In the summer of 2014, songwriter Geert van Emden took Jesse den Dulk into the studio with the intention of recording an EP. An EP that never came. A period of writing followed, built upon mutual inspirations such as Bon Iver, Radiohead and the early works of Coldplay.
The duo soon became a band when Pascal Konings and Tijs Kulker joined, creating an eclectic unity with a distinctive sound. A sound which fully serves the songs as well as Geert’s vocals. Grand, melodic and personal, somewhere on the scope between pop, alternative rock and folk.
St. Solaire sprouted and proved themselves a real climber, soon being noticed throughout the country. HAEVN took the band along as support to sold out shows at TivoliVredenburg, Doornroosje and Paradiso, and festivals such as Where The Wild Things Are and Motel Mozaïque invited the group.
Singles ‘Morning Sun’ and ‘Running’ turned into modest Spotify hits, and after 70+ shows in the Netherlands and abroad the band took a step back for another period of writing. St. Solaire remain one of the biggest promises of their country and are ready to climb back on that stage to share brand new music in 2019.
